Cinema MD's October Horror Recommendations

Oct 7, 2018

It's that time of year again. Pumpkin spice, apple cider, donuts, and of course the best part: HORROR MOVIES. I know most people don't have a massive DVD & Blu-Ray collection full of obscure horror films, so I'm here to recommend 25 lesser known scary movies that you can find on your friendly neighborhood streaming services. Enjoy!

  1. Haunters: The Art of the Scare (Netflix)
  2. Terrifier (Netflix)
  3. Train to Busan (Netflix)
  4. Gerald's Game (Netflix)
  5. The Ritual (Netflix)
  6. The Babysitter (Netflix)
  7. Green Room (Amazon Prime)
  8. The Innkeepers (Amazon Prime)
  9. Bone Tomahawk (Amazon Prime)
  10. The Greasy Strangler (Amazon Prime)
  11. Monster Squad (Amazon Prime)
  12. Chopping Mall (Amazon Prime)
  13. Tucker & Dale vs Evil (Hulu)
  14. Mom & Dad (Hulu)
  15. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (Hulu)
  16. Berberian Sound Studio (Hulu)
  17. Revenge (Shudder)
  18. Let us Prey (Shudder)
  19. Murder Party (Shudder)
  20. Nightbreed (Shudder)
  21. Southbound (Shudder)
  22. Behind the Mask (Shudder)
  23. Dead Shack (Shudder)
  24. Vampyros Lesbos (Shudder)
  25. Sweet, Sweet Lonely Girl (Shudder)

Extra Special Bonus: The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder. Seriously, it's 13 horror classics with intros and commentary from the legendary Joe Bob Briggs (from TNT's Monstervision).

PS: I'm not a shill for Shudder, but I love horror movies and it's well worth the investment if you do too. They usually have some sort of deal running to get a year for anywhere from $30-$40, so it ends up costing the equivalent of around $3.50 a month. Again, they don't pay me, I just genuinely think it's well worth the money.
